The iconic Burj Khalifa is surrounded by the beautifully landscaped Burj Khalifa Park that comprises a total area of 11 hectares. The carefully planned mega park is designed to resemble the desert-rose, and is a testament to the respect and reverence Dubai has for this often-overlooked element of the construction industry. Work on the Burj Khalifa started in 2004; it was projected to be the tallest man made structure in the world at 828 metres. Five years into construction, the sky scraper was almost complete, and the time came to begin the landscaping works for the accompanying park. The Burj Khalifa Park is designed to accommodate thousands of visitors, and host several events, celebrations and banquets. Visitors have access to a gorgeous lake promenade; modern and well-maintained facilities; The Boardwalk, a floating walkway that cuts through the Burj Lake, and offers the best view of the Dubai Fountain; and numerous vantage points to best view the many landmarks in the area. The Burj Khalifa was completed at the turn of the decade in 2010, to coincide with the Ascension Day ceremony of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and was officially inaugurated on 4th January 2010.
Proscape was contracted to execute the complete landscaping works for the project, including soft landscaping, hard landscaping, landscape lighting, irrigation, water features and architectural metal works.
