The Block is a multi-functional waterfront recreational facility located in Dubai Design District. The Block features a multi-purpose court, urban beach, a rock climbing zone, and food and beverage outlets, amongst many other amenities. A unique concept of the Block, is that it was designed to align with the principles of environmental sustainability, in very practical terms. For example, the project recycled over 1,700 blocks of concrete left over from the construction of the quay at Dubai Canal, with each block weighing approximately 27 tonnes each. This project, although not extremely large in scale, is one of its kind in Dubai.
Proscape was contracted to execute the complete landscaping works for the project, on a design and build basis. The concept and schematic design was provided by Desert Ink, UAE.
