The ICD Brookfield Place is a 53-storey commercial building that is eye catching in its futuristic multi-faceted design, and is the new landmark at Dubai International Financial Centre. Designed by Foster + Partners, UK, the compound also comprises a titanic five-storey mixed-use podium that encompasses four acres of land, and is one of the largest basements in the world. Proscape was contracted to execute the soft landscaping and irrigation for the project. Matured trees, averaging 7-8 metres in overall height, were procured two years in advance for the project, in order to acclimatise them to the local climate, before being carefully re-planted. The key landmark of the surrounding landscaping is the magnificent 12-metre tall Rain Tree (Samanea saman), with its large tropical canopy, that is located at the entrance to the tower. Proscape also executed the indoor summer garden, that is located at the 31-metre-tall entrance lobby of the building. The summer garden is perhaps one of the most unique features of any commercial building, and features an award winning year-round arts and events programme.
